Title: ORC Apparel?
Post by: KC9ONY on May 06, 2013, 08:19:51 PM
Well, I love my ORC jacket and hat.    As the temperatures are rising, the jacket is heading for the
closet.   I've seen some of the members wearing yellow jackets or windbreakers.    Not sure if
yellow is my color, but was thinking about a windbreaker or rain jacket that might have the
ORC logo put on it.    I also wouldn't mind polo shirts and/or T-shirts.   I am partial to the blue,
but that could be warm if out in the sun.

Has this been explored by the club in the years prior to my joining?

Good question Tom.  I know that Ed, AA9WW, has been tasked with the ORC gear that we sell on the website but I think he's looking for someone a bit closer to Port Washington (where the jackets and hats are embroidered) to take that duty over.

Any takers?

I didn't realize Ed Rate had the task of the Swag.  You know, that's something I would be willing to do.  Not only do I live in Port Washington, but I was in high school with Junior Usleding, the owner of the place.

As Tom is partial to Blue, I'm a guy who likes green.  There shouldn't be any reason the stuff couldn't be done in any other colors unless the club standard is blue.

I'll see you guys Wednesday night at the meeting.  Maybe we can bring it up as new business...or would that go to the board?

Later,
Gary

You're thinking of the wrong Ed -- he's AA9W -- but I'm pretty certain that Ed Frac would be thrilled to hand off those duties to you Gary.  We can discuss more at the meeting tomorrow.

My bad, I saw the new section after I posted.

Well, perhaps this should be moved over to the Swag section?

I recently saw a commercial for some outfit that prints T-shirts.     I was thinking that maybe
the ORC could put out a T-shirt so I'd had another hot weather shirt to wear.   Perhaps we
could think about this for next year.

I agree Tom.  I was thinking about T's at the Lighthouse event.  Another item might be a nylon wind shirt for spring and fall.  With the technology today I don't think we would need to make a commitment for a large quantity.  I'll look into it.

Thanks for the input.

This might be a good time to revisit this topic.   The weather is starting to get nicer, and I'd love
to have a club windbreaker, or polo shirt, or T-shirt.

I would be up for a windbreaker, also.  Just saw an old-school yellow club jacket at HamFest and sure did like the old-school look.  Reminded me of the Brewers jackets back in the 70's.

Old school look made with more modern materials would be nice.

Tom, what . . . you dont like the crinkle sound in sub-zero weather?

As for K9DJT's comment, I was picturing a yellow windbreaker with blue or black lettering, or blue jacket with yellow lettering (brewers mod).

I was NOT picturing 1930's black and red plaid hunting colors  :-)

How do you like me now?

It would go great with the Elmer Fudd hunting cap.

Their website says it's "a terrific blend of eye-catching fashion and cold weather function."

I wear caps...usually baseball style caps.   :D

OK guys.  Thank you for waiting.

A nice wind-shirt, dark blue with yellow lettering, will cost about $36.  (We could also get them in yellow with blue lettering if we want.)  There is no minimum order which means we can order one at a time.

A decent polo-shirt, blue or yellow as above, will cost about $26.  Again, no minimum order.

T-shirts will cost about $12, any color, but because of the silk-screening there is a minimum order of twelve.

I am planning to order a wind-shirt and polo for myself which I plan to picture on the ORC website.

We're ready to accept you order!!!  Don't forget to also provide me your size...

Thanks for updating that Gary!
Just curious as to what will be on these items?    Will it be the same as the current jackets?
Something that just says Ozaukee Radio Club or have our name and call sign?   I assume it
is extra for the call sign, but you never know.
Any pics of what the wind-shirt looks like?

Below is our logo and call sign on a current jacket, from the main ORC site.
Just wondering if we are planning the same image on the wind-shirt and polo shirt?

Tom, they will be just like the jacket...club logo, call sign and name.  What I'm doing though is making the call sign a little larger and placing it above the name. My reasoning is that at any ham event...what do you look for first? You first know someone by their call sign and then their name. I'm doing the same with the hats. As far as pictures, I'm going to get mine and place pictures of those on our web site.  I'm also thinking of a summer baseball cap...beige cap with a blue brim and blue lettering.
