ORC Fall Swapfest / Re: 2013 Fall Information
« on: May 24, 2013, 10:31:10 PM »
Thanks Brian.
I should have proofread the posting to say I get an error, not can an error.   ;D

Don't forget about the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend  8/17 - 8/18/2013.
In the past, ORC and LeFrog have combined talents to work this event.   Last year, we set up
a tower and beam, with greater results than in past years.   The ORC is already registered
for the event this year.

Last year, we were competing with the Port Washington Maritime Heritage Festival.
However, this year that event is scheduled one week after the ILLW.    We operated outside of the
1860 Light Station and Museum.

Mark your calendars!

Brian,
The link for the Fall Swapfest did not work.    I can an error that the file is damaged or
corrupt or something.   Also got the same message when trying via the ORC website.

Swag (Hats/Jackets) / ORC Apparel?
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:19:51 PM »
Well, I love my ORC jacket and hat.    As the temperatures are rising, the jacket is heading for the
closet.   I've seen some of the members wearing yellow jackets or windbreakers.    Not sure if
yellow is my color, but was thinking about a windbreaker or rain jacket that might have the
ORC logo put on it.    I also wouldn't mind polo shirts and/or T-shirts.   I am partial to the blue,
but that could be warm if out in the sun.

Has this been explored by the club in the years prior to my joining?

Dayton Hamvention / Re: Four weeks to go!
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:16:19 PM »
Last year was my first time.   I rode with Loren, N9ENR and Steve, W9MCU.   We took Steve's
van, and had purchased a spot to sell, so the van was full of stuff.    Since they had been there
before, I liked that I didn't have to know my way around.   They picked the hotel and made the
arrangements.   All I did was pay my fair share.

I want to say we left sometime between 11 am and noon, after we had loaded up the van
on Thursday morning.

Hope this helps.

Arduino / Re: Touchscreen display

Remind me to bring the ARRL Arduino book to the May club meeting.    Any initial ideas on what
you will use the touchscreen for?    Was it expensive?

Programs / Re: April 2013
« on: April 14, 2013, 08:13:35 PM »
Perhaps we could see who has a decent camera for recording these, if the presenter doesn't mind.
Of course, some of the questions might be hard to pick up, depending on where the camera
would be placed.

Arduino / Re: Arduino Clock
« on: April 14, 2013, 08:09:48 PM »
While at the Madison hamfest, I bought the ARRL Arduino book.   It normally sells for $34.95.
I see on the ARRL site, a member price would be $29.95.    The guy selling them at the hamfest
sold for $25.00.   Nice color jacket, but only black and white pics inside!   Oh well, I'm still a long
way from actually buying one and finding a project that I want for it.

I did talk to someone at the hamfest about the Raspberry Pi computer and his use for D-STAR.
I'm still a long way from understanding that computer as well.

Sorry for the late posting, but as shown on the ORC website calendar, there is a hamfest this
weekend.    It's the Madison Hamfest, which is located in Stoughton, WI.

Here is a link to their website:

Loren, N9ENR and I will be there selling stuff for LeFrog.   Maybe we will see you there.
