Time Lapse Video From Field Day 2014
« on: July 01, 2014, 01:54:59 PM »
I shot a night sequence and a couple daylight ones. Also a field on the way home when the clouds were too interesting to ignore. Watch the big dipper behind the tower in the night scene.

Roughly 2000 full sized RAW stills from a full frame DSLR combined into a 24 frames/Sec video.

Hope you like it.

That was well done Bob.    I'll have to watch it again, as I missed the Big Dipper.    As I was
heading home from the LeFrog FD site, I remarked to Loren how many stars we could see,
and did see the Big Dipper.    Now if I can remember where the Little Dipper was supposed to
be......from Boy Scouts many years ago.

Were you filming during the recent lightning storms?   They were really something.

Big Dipper was split in half by the tower at mid height. The little would have been off to the right, but I think it was behind the tree.

I wasn't shooting recently during the storms. Last few times I tried, the rain hit before the lightning was close enough to capture. This diffuses the bolts into a general flash.

Here is a cool cloud lapse from about a year ago.

I watched it again, and saw the Big Dipper.   I was distracted by the tent or whatever that was
that was illuminated to the bottom left of the tower base.   ;D

LeFrog does their FD on the bluff in Port Washington.  And ORC does theirs in Washington County.  Go figure!   :D

Very nice job on the video Bob.  I'm hoping Brian and figure a way to make it available on our web site.  We all know he has nothing better to do!   ;)

Thanks Gary, now it makes sense.

Brian can provide a link if he wants. I hope to do more at a future event, when I am less sleep deprived....

As Gary said, Upper Lake Park in Port Washington, more on the south end of the park,
overlooking the Sewage Treatment plant   :o
and the Veteran's Memorial Park.   We hear music from the bandshell rather than seeing it.
It's usually much cooler there than over at Lazy Days Campground, though we don't have the
turkeys that Stan provides for the ORC.   Many of the LeFrog members are also members of
the ORC, but a much smaller gang.

We jointly work the Lighthouse event coming up in August.
