Add events to Calendar?
« on: May 25, 2013, 06:42:37 PM »
Is there a way to add events to the Calendar on here?
I suppose I could e-mail Brian, but thought to add the different bike rides
that involve ham radio for communication, such as the Tour de Cure or Trek 100.

I can check to see how that works. I haven't checked out the calendar on here yet.

I just looked and I see that I did add the ORC Spring Swapfest to the calendar.  By default regular members were not able to do so but I think I have made the necessary change so any registered member can add events.  Give it a try!

I was able to post to the Calendar, but it also goes into some section of the forum.   I suppose
that is okay, but was thinking that I could just add to the Calendar and not have it also posted
in any section.    For example, I have already posted some swapfests.   If I add them to the
Calendar, it will create a new post as well, which really isn't needed.    Then again, next time
I do post a swapfest, I don't have to do it twice.    Just wish there was a way to have the
Events option to be not posted in the forum.    If you go in and delete the posting from the forum,
it also erases the event in the Calendar.

Well, I just saw that I can link a post to the Calendar, which is convenient for having two
days for the same event.   That's kind of neat to have.

Thanks for adding the area swapfests to the calendar Tom.  I'm thinking of removing the calendar from the main site and pointing it to the one here.  What do you think?

Actually, that is a pretty good idea Brian.   It might draw more members to this site, as well as
make it easier for me to post to the calendar.    I could be missing it, but there isn't a way to
edit an Event title if I make a mistake on the Calendar.    I had to remove a post to clean up
something I did earlier, but not a big deal either.

See if you can edit one now.  Surprisingly there was a different setting for that which I didn't notice before.

Tom,

I was able to enable the feature to show upcoming events at the bottom of the main page.  Check out the screenshot in the attachment.

Pretty cool.
